BioSpec 94/20 9.4 Tesla MRI

This high-field research MRI is operated through the OPTIC in collaboration with Dr. Andrew Kung. It is capable of extremely high resolution anatomical imaging, and uses advanced functional imaging applications, such as contrast MRI, diffusion weighted imaging, and spectral imaging

Perkin-Elmer IVIS Spectrum Optical Imaging System

The IVIS spectrum is a noninvasive imaging technique that uses bioluminescent and fluorescent reporters that can render a 3D view of the animal. It can be used for disease progression and monitoring, as well as observing gene expression patterns in vivo. It has high throughput capabilities of up to 5 mice with a 23 cm field of view, and creates high resolution images of up to 20 microns with a 3.9 cm field of view.   

VEVO 2100 High Resolution Ultrasound

The Vevo 2100 ultrasound system allows us to noninvasively detect and measure abnormalities as well as to compare to normal tissue, thereby identifying the magnitude of the abnormalities. Post acquisition analysis on ultrasound scans is offered with the Vevo 2100 Analysis software installed on a dedicated OPTIC computer for qualitative and quantitative assessments and measurements. 

Perkin-Elmer FX micro CT

A computed tomography (CT) scan makes use of computer-processed combinations of many X-ray images taken from different angles to produce cross-sectional images of a scanned object. This provides the user with a 3D image of the internal structure without having to cut into it.

Cross-sectional images are used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in various medical disciplines.
